Representational devices of magazines.

Amongst these six magazine front covers, 5 of which are from different organisations, I looked and analysed the different ways in which each artist/band has been presented. By the use of Mise en Scene - props, hair and make-up, costumes, and the way the photograph and artist has been positioned within the page.

Here I have labelled all the features of the layout on the front cover and have highlights the left-side third feature and explained the purpose of it.

Here I have highlighted all of the presentational devices, such as the use of font to stand out and appeal to the specific target audience as well as the use of Mise en Scene.

Magazine Front Covers.

As part of our Pre-Lim task for our previous coursework, we had to produce 3 magazine front covers.
Our front covers had to be appropriate for  school/college students, therefore it made sense to include information about exams, parties, how to revise and how to reduce stress.

This was my first front cover, I decided to include a picture of someone working, with coverlines to do with making UCAS, making choices about gap years etc.

Yet again on this magazine front cover, I showed a student working, but I also managed to link the two photos on the front cover, with a coverline, and information on "How to..."
I also included  the price, a barcode and the issue number of the magazine.
I also changed the colour of the masterhead, just to show the difference/edit choices.

Finally, on this front cover, I have included a student working on a computer also I have included an image I’ve previously used, but it was appropriate. I have included a subheading, and coverlines on revision and on an Exam Countdown.  However, I also realised it was important to make it look professional and include a barcode, date and issue number.

All of my front covers have included images and colours presented in dfiferent places and in different sizes.
